When you want to splurge, you could do much worse than Napa Valley Cabernet. Save $30 a bottle on the Maxville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon until Tuesday 4/7 at noon!

INSIDER DEAL! Maxville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – Napa Cab Heaven

It's our first Insider Deal on a Saturday Splurge (over $20) wine, and, of course, Napa Valley is the natural spot.

As we've discussed many times before despite the fact that a lot of the mark-up in Napa wines is completely unwarranted (based mainly on the name on the bottle) there is no doubt that the grapes grown here are something special, especially when it comes to Cabernet.

In fact, in 2018 the price per ton of Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley was an astounding $7,800, well over twice that of Sonoma at $3,000 and over five times the price of Cab from Washington State which went for $1,500 per ton.

Is Napa Cab 5 times as good as Washington Cab? Well, with today's deal it doesn't have to be! That's because you're getting a full 50% discount on two $60 Napa Cabs. Not only that but you're saving at least another $10 in shipping costs thanks to our $5 rate.

These are wines are not typically available at a discount either, the wine-searcher average is $56 with the absolute lowest prices rarely dipping below $45.

    Maxville Napa Cab Price History

We've included two vintages in this deal, the 2014 and the 2015, as comparing wines like these vintage to vintage is fascinating and frankly part of the fun. You can find our detailed tasting notes below.

This deal is available to ship to: AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WV, WI and WY.

This is a limited time, winery direct offer facilitated by our friends at Wine Country Connect. Sale ends Tuesday April 7 at noon (PST) unless it sells out sooner. Shipping is a flat $5 no matter how many 2-packs you buy! Clicking on the buy button above will take you to the site winedealmaker.com for checkout. If you don't see the embedded buy box click here to order. The wines will ship 5-7 days after the conclusion of the offer.

    From the bottles:

Maxville is nestled deep in the Chiles Valley of Napa and boasts over 1,000 acres preserved in the Napa Valley Land Trust. Farmed since 1844, we believe in continuing to uphold the promise of the land by creating the highest quality wines without compromise.

With notes of cassis and blackberry, combined with a slight spice, our Cabernet Sauvignon has a firm tannin structure, very balanced and round mouthfeel, and a long, persistent finish.

    14.5% Alcohol

The 2014 Maxville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petite Sirah from Napa Valley, California. The wine spends 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which were new. 10,000 cases were produced.

2014 Maxville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The wine begins with an intoxicating, almost hypnotic aroma of blackberry, vanilla, chocolate and much more (graphite, cedar, spice). This is the real deal!

It only takes one sip to understand why this wine costs so much. Juicy, concentrated dark fruit, dusty tannins and excellent touches of vanilla and chocolate all combine seamlessly in this super delicious, balanced and layered full-bodied wine.

It ends dry and very long with some lingering light spice notes (along with everything else from the palate). This is absolutely delicious and maybe even slightly better on day two.

The 2015 Maxville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ups the Petite Sirah a bit to 11% but also spends about 18 months in French oak.

2015 Maxville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

In terms of aroma the 2015 is similar to the 2014 but adds a touch of balsamic and a bit more spice to the nose. And while it might not be quite as juicy and layered on the palate, the impossibly long finish might even take it up a notch from the 2014. It's still dusty and even a bit chewy in its youth and as you might expect it's even a little better on day two.

Plenty good now, both of these wines can also be cellared for a substantial period.
