Inexpensive Malbec from Sam’s Club, but does it measure up? We review the Member’s Mark Mendoza Malbec.
Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina.
There’s no indication as to who makes this particular wine or as to how it is made, but that’s par for the course with these private labels. Let’s check out how it tastes.
The Member’s Mark Mendoza Malbec is available exclusively at Sam’s Club for just $6.98, so once again it’s the exact same price as the very popular Costco version, the Kirkland Signature Malbec (which is made by Broquel Winery).
From Sam’s Club:
2024 Member’s Mark Malbec
Mendoza, ArgentinaSituated at the foothills of the Andes and fed by the purest water from melted snow, the vineyards that produce Member’s Mark Malbec are renown for growing grapes of outstanding quality. This wine brings the robust feel of a traditional malbec, with spiced red plum flavors backed by a silky texture. It’s as elegant as it is complex, yet it pairs perfectly with most cuisine.

The 2024 Member’s Mark Mendoza Malbec opens with lots of dark berry, almost mulberry type fruit. You’ll also find a little vanilla, chocolate and black pepper. It’s a bit simple but inviting.
The wine tastes surprisingly decent. It’s quite smooth and features lots of slightly juicy dark berry fruit plus some baking spice and the other touches from the nose.
It ends dry with good length and was similar on day 2. This is a nice, very drinkable example of Malbec for the price. Once again, however, it falls a bit behind the Costco version in terms of taste.
