A solid Aldi exclusive offering for just $13, we check out the latest vintage of the Peaks & Tides Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir.
Pinot Noir from Sonoma County of California.
The Peaks & Tides Pinot Noir is available exclusively at Aldi and still sells for just $12.99.
From the bottle:
Sonoma County is a geographic symphony of mountains, hills, and coastline with a rich terrain that allows the region’s wine growers to produce wine with as much depth and complexity as the land it comes from.
These Peaks & Tides create a unique microclimate perfectly suited to growing Pinot Noir grapes.
This exceptional Pinot Noir captures the essence of Sonoma County with a beautiful mouthfeel that marries flavors of cherry and strawberries with elegant French Oak.
Pairs well with roast chicken and mushroom risotto.

The 2022 Peaks & Tides Pinot Noir begins with an attractive aroma of strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, and a touch of spice and dried herbs.
The wine tastes smooth and features more juicy fruit than the much earthier William Wright Pinot Noir also from Aldi, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have any earthiness to it at all. With nice balance, some cola notes and a bit more cranberry in the mouth, this is rather surprising quality from Aldi where we’ve generally seen the white wines offer more value than the reds. It’s hard to find decent Pinot Noir under $15, but this is a good example.
It ends dry, long, a touch grippy and tasty with a nice bit of spice. A bit lighter than the 2021 vintage, it’s not a super complex Pinot but just like we found with the Peaks & Tides Cabernet and the Peaks & Tides Chardonnay, it’s a solid offering at this price. We’ll put this one at the low end of our 8 Taste Rating.
