A simple and tasty blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, the Poderi dal Nespoli Nespolino Rosso.
Sample submitted for review. The wine can be found for as low as $9. It is imported by Kindred Vines.
Two of the main red grape varieties are used to produce Nespolino. The wine celebrates Nespoli not only in its’ local flavors, but also the combination with an international variety which brings good results for the Romagna area.
This pleasant wine has an intense ruby red color and thanks also to the aging process of the Merlot in barriques, it gives a soft feeling to the palate. The main fruit aromas are cherry and violet, typical of the Sangiovese, together with herbs and chocolate aromas from the Merlot. Dry and harmonious, it is an overall well-balanced wine.
The 2018 Poderi dal Nespoli Nespolino Rosso (Rubicone IGT) begins with a pleasing aroma of cherry, licorice, plum, a little leather and mint.
Taking a sip reveals a simple and quite tasty wine that is fresh and easy to drink. It features a nice soft mouthfeel and similar flavors to the nose with a little added chocolate and oaky spice.
It ends dry, savory and long. This is a nice, easy-drinking Italian wine and a great value.
