Q Collection Russian River Valley Chardonnay - Bridging The Great Divide

By: Jon Thorsen Published: June 9, 2017 Last Updated: October 1, 2021

Q Collection Russian River Valley Chardonnay - Bridging The Great DivideThe Q Collection Russian River Valley Chardonnay, uniting the two types of Chardonnay drinkers with just one bottle.

100% Chardonnay from Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels.

This review is brought to you by Q Collection Wines.

The Q Collection Russian River Valley Chardonnay has an SRP of $17.99 and is available for as low as $15.

    From the bottle:

Every varietal has its own distinctive quality, but only a few wines capture its quintessential essence. When they do, they join the Q Collection.

From the sunny hills and bucolic vineyards of Sonoma County, our Q Collection Chardonnay explores the lush aromas of butter, apple pie and Bartlett pear, grounded by a rich acidity to create the delicate balance of a great Chardonnay.

    13.5% Alcohol

If you think politics today are polarizing, just try pleasing the two extremes of Chardonnay drinkers: the full-on movie-style buttered popcorn lovers and the restrained, pure fruit and no oak naturalists. And while at first glance you would think that this bottle would be directed at the former (thanks to its malolactic fermentation in French oak), what we have here is a Chardonnay that is able to bridge this great divide and keep both parties quite happy.

The 2015 Q Collection Russian River Valley Chardonnay begins with a very pleasant aroma of apple, pear, a touch of honey and some nice floral notes. Tasting the wine reveals it to have great balance. There's a touch of oaky butter but it's not overdone at all. Fresh juicy fruit with touches of caramel and butterscotch are wrapped up in a smooth, round, satisfying mouthfeel. Light oaky notes lead into the slightly chalky and refreshing finish. This bottle definitely gets my vote!
