Revelation Cabernet-Merlot – An Eye-Opener

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: January 3, 2020

Your daily drinking options just got better, the $6.99 Trader Joe’s Badet Clement Revelation Cabernet-Merlot Pays d’Oc. Bulk Buy!

Revelation Cabernet-Merlot – An Eye-Opener

A red blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot from France.

The Revelation Cabernet-Merlot is made by the same producer (Badet Clement) as the Pontificis GSM and White Blend, both of which we also loved. Like those wines it is a Trader Joe’s exclusive and sells for just $6.99. It is imported by Latitude Wines.

From bottle:

Revelation, Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) – Merlot (45%), has a lovely deep red colour and a velvety appearance. The nose displays very intense aromas of dark chocolate, cherries and blackcurrants. This wine is rich, round with mature tannins. This is a very complex and elegant wine. It is best enjoyed with stews, steaks, duck or cheese. Best served around 65F.

13.5% Alcohol

The 2018 Badet Clement Revelation Cabernet-Merlot Pays d’Oc begins with quite an attractive aroma of black cherry, lots of licorice, a little vanilla and a touch of chocolate. The medium-bodied wine tastes smooth and fruit forward with some well-done spice, licorice and leather accents. It’s fairly simple but really tasty and quite good quality for this low of a price. It ends dry and with good length. Just like the Pontificis wines, this is another great everyday drinker option.

Also, it’s a very different tasting wine but I put this in the same category as the Maison Barboulot Cabernet-Syrah in that is rather simple, but really well done and really delicious (and really inexpensive).
