Another excellent Cabernet Franc from Michigan, the Tabor Hill Cabernet Franc.
100% Cabernet Franc from the Lake Michigan Shore in Michigan State. The wine spends 20 months in oak and has no residual sugar.
Sample submitted for review. The wine has an SRP of $28 but is available for as low as $18.
Michigan probably isn't the first place you think of when it comes to wine, but there are some delicious wines being made here. And perhaps surprisingly to some, that includes not just whites but red wines as well. In fact, one of our favorite varietals from this area is Cabernet Franc. As such we were excited to try this one out.
A beautiful balance of oak, tobacco, milk chocolate on the nose, with a faint wisp of smoke and dried dark cherries on the palate. A decent amount of acidity is evident on the finish, which pleasantly lingers about alongside a slight touch of sweetness.
Food Pairings: Pork loin, leg of lamb, pasta with tomato sauce.

The Tabor Hill Cabernet Franc begins with quite enticing and strong aroma of black cherry, spicy oak and vanilla.
It's a great start and taking a sip confirms this is a pretty darn tasty Cabernet Franc! It's smooth, balanced and easy to drink and features well integrated spice to go along with the fresh and juicy black cherry notes.
It ends dry, quite long, grippy and even has a bit of lively minerality. We are quite impressed with Michigan Cab Franc once again.
