We love Tin Barn Vineyards, as do most of you based on the success of their excellent Zin, Merlot, Cab and Pinot Noir deals. And while we’ve offered this Sauvignon Blanc in the past, this latest version comes from the 30+ year-old vines of the Uboldi Vineyard tended by famed grower Chuy Ordaz. This might be the best vintage yet!

With only 353 cases produced, there’s not much of this excellent wine to go around, but we’re delighted to be able to bring you this new Bulk Buy rated vintage at an incredible price.

This one has sell-out written all over it. And the reason for that is simple. This is not your typical steel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc.

In addition to those wonderful grapes, Tin Barn and co-owner/winemaker Michael Lancaster takes the extra step of barrel fermenting portions of the wine in neutral French oak (30%) with the balance in stainless steel. The wine is then aged in concrete egg (43%) and stainless steel (57%), with no malolactic fermentation. The result is an enhanced mouthfeel while still preserving the wine’s crisp acidity and vibrancy. It is absolutely delicious.

It all seems like a lot of work for just 353 cases but surprisingly, even with this extra attention to detail, the SRP of this wine is still quite reasonable at just $28 a bottle. But of course, you won’t have to pay anywhere near that price through today’s deal…

And now on to our review:

The 2023 Tin Barn Vineyards Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc begins with a very attractive and enticing aroma full of tropical fruit notes, melon, lemon, lime and other citrus plus some pleasing grassy and herbal notes. Yum.

The wine tastes rich, fresh, juicy, crisp, tangy and delicious and showcases its lovely, smooth and round, yet still lively, mouthfeel. Featuring similar flavors to the nose with lots of grapefruit and pineapple, it also has a touch of a wonderful, herbal almost jalapeno-like peppery note. With great depth of flavor and great balance this is just a really lovely example of Sauvignon Blanc that is super drinkable and delicious. Double yum.

It ends with a dry, very long, lip-smackingly good finish. Triple Yum!

If you’re a fan of extremely well made and delicious white wines, this is the perfect one to stock up on for spring and summer.
