Whispering Angel Cotes de Provence Rosé - Pretty Tasty Indeed

By: Jon Thorsen Published: August 2, 2021 Last Updated: October 19, 2021

Highly touted rosé at a great Costco price, the Whispering Angel Cotes de Provence Rosé from Caves d'Esclans.

Whispering Angel Cotes de Provence Rosé - Pretty Tasty Indeed

A rosé blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Vermentino from Cotes de Provence in the South of France. The wine is made in stainless steel.

We found the Whispering Angel Rosé at Costco for $18.89 but there are other sellers on wine-searcher at an average price of $22. It is imported by Moet Hennessy USA.

    From the bottle:

In the Esclans Valley angels whisper. If you drink this wine, you might hear them. If by chance you visit us, you might see them. Sacha Alexis Lichine

    13% Alcohol

The 2020 Whispering Angel Cotes de Provence Rosé from Caves d'Esclans opens with a pleasing aroma of citrus, peach, watermelon, some red berry fruit and touches of floral notes and salty minerality.

This wine has a lot of hype and I have to say it is indeed pretty tasty stuff. It's super easy to sip but also offers plenty of interesting layers at the same time. It features a smooth and silky mouthfeel plus juicy fruit similar to the nose with some added tart pink grapefruit in the mouth.

It ends with a crisp, dry, lip-smacking finish of lingering fruit plus the return of that hint of salty minerality from the nose. This is very nice.

Rosé wines are normally made from red wine grapes which have minimal contact with the grape skins, which accounts for their signature light red color. Interestingly this wine also consists of Vermentino, which is a white wine grape. The result is a wine that is really almost a bit between a white wine and a rosé and reminiscent of one of our favorites in this category, the Bonny Doon Vin Gris de Cigare Rosé.

No Costco in your area? Check your local retailers for this wine.
