Have we got an interesting one today! The Marselan grape is relatively recent hybrid of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache, first produced in France in 1961. Primarily grown in Southern France and used as a blending component, the grape has also found a home in Uruguay (and even more surprisingly in China). We're huge fans of wines from Uruguay like the Garzon Tannat and the Garzon Cabernet Franc so let's check this one out.
This red wine is the ideal companion for roasted meats with Provencal vegetables or pork stews with potatoes and beans. Strong cheese with intense aromas also make an excellent pairing.

The 2018 Bodega Garzon Marselan Reserve opens with an inviting aroma featuring tons of very dark fruit with some nice floral notes.
Taking a sip also reveals plenty of concentrated, fresh dark fruit. It's quite tannic but quite tasty too with nice touches of spice and chocolate.
It ends dry with some chalky minerality on the long finish. This is a really interesting find for those who like more tannic wines.
