Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier - Yummy

By: Jon Thorsen Published: September 24, 2019 Last Updated: May 25, 2021

Lovely and delicious Viognier from Australia, the Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier.

Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier - Yummy

Viognier from Eden Valley, Barossa, South Australia. 60% of the wine was aged 10 months in French oak with the remaining 40% in stainless steel. It is also vegan friendly.

Sample submitted for review. The Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier has an SRP of $21 and is available for as low as $16. Ready to buy? Check your local retailers. Imported by Winebow.

    From the bottle:

Samuel’s Collection: This vineyard collection celebrates Yalumba’s direct lineage to some of Australia’s first vine plantings, several of which could be found in the vineyard Samuel Smith planted at Yalumba over a century and a half ago.

Eden Valley Viognier: This vegan friendly Viognier exhibits the diversity of the Barossa. Yalumba has been working with this alluring variety for over 35 years. In the 1980s Yalumba pioneered the growing and producing of Viognier in Australia.

Tasting Notes: Pure aromas of fresh apricots, lifted ginger, saffron and fresh white flowers. The palate is long and rich with intense stone fruit flavours.

Terroir: Viognier grapes from six vineyards are blended together to craft this wine. Wild ferment.

    13.5% Alcohol

The 2017 Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Viognier begins with a really lovely aroma full of pretty floral notes plus melon, peach, pear, ginger and more. The wine tastes rich and velvety with the flavors from the nose continuing (although more tart in the mouth) along with some added white spice. Add in some good, fresh acidity and this is a delicious and fun to drink wine. All the same flavors continue on the long, pleasing finish along with a touch of saltiness.

Ready to buy? Check your local retailers.
