Aldi Mark Hill Pinot Noir Review

Simple but attractive and only $8. We review the Mark West look-alike Mark Hill Pinot Noir from Aldi.

Aldi Mark Hill Pinot Noir Review

Pinot Noir from California. The wine does not appear to spend any time in oak.

There’s no further info available on this wine but the label is very reminiscent of the Mark West brand, which typically sells for $10-$12. There’s no indication, however, that they are related. It’s probably more likely Aldi is just going for the same market by producing a similar wine for several dollars less.

The Mark Hill Pinot Noir sells for $7.99 exclusively at Aldi. Let’s check it out.

From the bottle:

Travel to the land of laid-back attitude and carefree mentality with this California Pinot Noir. The delicate floral aromas, juicy berry flavors and silky texture carry you away to a year-round paradise. This easygoing wine is best served at room temperature and pairs perfectly with roasted chicken, salmon and pasta.

The 2022 Mark Hill Pinot Noir opens with aromas of ripe black cherry, a little cranberry, and a touch of cinnamon spice. It’s simple but attractive, which seems to be the theme for this wine.

Taking a sip reveals a smooth, simple, light and easy Pinot with similar flavors to nose. It doesn’t have much depth but it is one of the hardest varieties to get decent examples of under $20, much less under $10.

It ends dry and with a touch of spice on the medium long finish. It was just as good on day 2. This is impressive for the price!
