The 2016 Bodegas Ego Goru 18m begins with an attractive and engaging aroma full of ripe red fruit along with balsamic, licorice, vanilla, a little coffee and lots of varied spices.
The full-bodied wine needs some time to open up but tastes smooth and savory with lots of deep dark fruit flavors that combine well with all spice notes from the nose. Nicely tannic and with good acidity this is a meaty and delicious wine that gets even better as it has more air.
It ends dry, long and grippy with lingering chocolate and vanilla. Overall it's similar to the 2015 vintage although it does seem to lacking a bit of depth that wine had.
