    From Cameron Hughes:

Red Mountain is a region better known for structure and power than ultra-ripe fruit, and Lot 613 is no exception. It comes to us from a historic family-owned estate and is very much an "old school" Cabernet (something you Bordeaux lovers out there will appreciate).

Sourced directly from the producing winery's flagship Reserve offering, this is a prime example of Red Mountain terroir, and 28 months in barrel (60% new oak) has done a fantastic job of integrating the big structure of this wine and bringing the fruit forward. It's the perfect wine for pairing with a thick, juicy steak, and will also cellar gracefully for another 15+ years.

    15.2% Alcohol

Today we're highlighting another fabulous wine from the tiny Red Mountain AVA within the Yakima Valley AVA in the Columbia Valley of Washington. The area, full of prestigious producers, is not often one that makes wines within our price range. Thankfully, however, for the second time in recent history the good folks at Cameron Hughes have changed that!

While we previously highlighted the Bulk Buy rated Red Mountain Red Blend, this time we've got one for the Cab lovers. In fact, it's so good and has such great aging potential that you're going to want to buy several and open one every few years just to see how it continues to develop. (Although that might be very hard to do after you taste the first bottle!)

The aroma of the 2013 Cameron Hughes Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 613 grabs a hold and sucks you right into the glass in a wonderfully good way. Vanilla, plum, black cherry, cocoa and smoke aromas combine powerfully and you even get some nice floral notes with a little bit of air. Tasting reveals a tannic and tasty full-bodied beauty with loads of rich fruit plus tons of smoky vanilla, cocoa, spice, licorice, leather and more. It ends with a dry, mouth-gripping finish with great length.
