This Trader Joe's find is pretty tasty for just $8, the Chateau Fontana Rouge Bordeaux.
70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from Bordeaux, France.
We found the Chateau Fontana Rouge at Trader Joe's for just $7.99 but it looks like there are a couple other sellers out there as well. It is imported by Schafer-Reichart Selections and this vintage received 88 points from Wine Enthusiast.
From pruning to vinification, we practice a traditional and reasoned culture, with a soil enriched only with organic manure.
During harvest, the plots are selected and vinified separately in order to proceed with the assembly before setting.
Regarding the vinification, on arrival the harvest is destemmed and then macerated for 30 days, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
The cellar is equipped with a thermo-regulation system with micro-oxygenation.
13% Alcohol
The 2016 Chateau Fontana Bordeaux opens with a pleasing aroma of ripe raspberry and blackberry with some nice violet notes and a bit of spice.
The wine tastes perfectly fine for the price. It's full of nice, ripe, juicy fruit notes and plenty of spice throughout. It could use a bit more depth and concentration but this is pretty tasty for $8. Aged quite nicely, this is drinking great now. It ends dry and with good length.
