A substantial rosé at a great Costco price, we review the Comte De La Chevaliere Sancerre Rosé.
100% Pinot Noir rosé wine from from the Sancerre region in the Loire Valley of France. This is a multi-vintage blend.
Sancerre, of course, is best know for their excellent Sauvignon Blanc but the Loire Valley of France is one of the most diverse and largest (3rd) wine regions in the country. While Cabernet Franc is the primary red, the region of Sancerre lies close to the acclaimed Burgundy region and their excellent Pinot Noir. It is no surprise then that Pinot is grown extensively in Sancerre as well.
And today we have a really intriguing Sancerre Rosé that would make a great pick for your Thanksgiving meal. It’s also a great opportunity, thanks to the Costco price, to try a wine you don’t see a lot of without having to spend much to do it.
The Comte De La Chevaliere Sancerre Rosé has an SRP of $25 but we found it at Costco for just $14.99. The average price on wine-searcher is $19. It is imported by Tri-Vin Imports Inc.
From the bottle:
Made from Pinot Noir perfectly balances freshness and maturity through s well-crafted blend. Its lively and fruity palate, with notes of strawberry, apricot and hints of citrus, will make the perfect pair with exotic dishes or grilled seafood.

The non-vintage Comte De La Chevaliere Sancerre Rosé opens with an attractive aroma of fresh strawberry, watermelon and citrus with some light honeysuckle and herbal notes. It’s a nice start.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth and creamy mouthfeel with similar flavors to nose that are a bit more tart and juicy plus a light honey note. This is a substantial rosé!
It ends dry, juicy and very long and lasting. This is excellent.
