The 2016 Maison Roche De Bellene Rully Pinot Noir was aged in French oak barrels (50% new) for around 18 months. The grapes were grown in clay and limestone soils at an altitude of 280m and harvested by hand. The wine was fermented using native yeast. Only 3,000 bottles were produced and the alcohol is 12.5%. The 2016 Maison Roche De Bellene Rully Pinot Noir opens with an attractive, fresh aroma of cherry and other red fruits including cranberry along with notes of tomato plant and touches of spice, licorice and rhubarb.
The wine tastes smooth, fresh and balanced with more red fruit in the mouth. Nicely layered and flavorful with good acidity, this is especially savory and delicious after a few hours of air.
It ends dry and long and was just as good on day two. This is an absolute pleasure to drink. It still has several years of peak drinking ahead of it as well.
