From the bottle:
The grapes that produce this wine are grown in the county of Monterey, California, a coastal setting where sunny skies mix with predictable, cooling maritime winds. We chose this very cool grape growing region to produce a pure wine with all the vitality and mineral character of the earth in which it was grown. Silver is the purest "unoaked" expression of our best Chardonnay grapes, and can be enjoyed chilled with a wide array of foods.

This wine used to come in an actual ceramic bottle and while they have now moved on to colored glass, it's still quite distinctive. The 2014 Mer Soleil Silver Unoaked Chardonnay begins with a very pleasant aroma of apple, pear, lime, grapefruit and a little lemon cream. The wine tastes quite vibrant in the mouth with lots of rich tropical fruit and lots of lime. It also has good, crisp acidity. Tart, tropical fruit builds into the finish where that fruit lingers for quite a long time and there's even a bit of minerality underneath. This is a solid, unoaked Chardonnay in a bottle that is sure to make an impression at your table.
