Fresh off a Bulk Buy on another Washington red blend, we’re back at it with more from the Chateau Ste Michelle family of wines. This time it’s the Snoqualmie label, established in 1983 and churning out great value wines ever since. We’ve enjoyed their Merlot immensely in the past, so today we check out their Cabernet/Merlot red blend.
The 2014 Snoqualmie Whistle Stop Red begins with excellent aromas of blackberry, black cherry and baking spice along with touches of smoked meat and vanilla. The wine tastes smooth and flavorful with great depth. The flavors when tasting are similar to the nose with the vanilla cranked up a notch. With great mouthfeel and good balance it’s crazy that this medium to full-bodied wine is less than $10. It ends dry and exceedingly long with a bit of dark chocolate and tobacco in addition to the sweet fruit and spice. Another fantastic wine from Washington State.
