It's back and plenty good! We check out the latest vintage of the Trader Joe's Reserve Paso Robles Syrah Lot 100.
Syrah from Paso Robles, California. The 2019 vintage doesn't give any more specificity on the varietal mix but previous vintages also included some Petit Verdot and Malbec.
The Trader Joe's Reserve Paso Robles Syrah is available exclusively at Trader Joe's and sells for $9.99. The wine is made by Familia Nueva Vineyards who also produce the Liberté Cabernet Sauvignon for TJ's.
Bold and complex with black cherry, blueberry, violet, and toasty oak notes leading to polished tannins and a long smooth finish.

Today's wine is one we've reviewed multiple times on the site and have rated as high as a Bulk Buy. And while the 2019 isn't quite up to that level, it is very good and significantly improved from the last time we tried it (the 2017).
The 2019 Trader Joe's Reserve Paso Robles Syrah Lot 100 begins with a lovely aroma full of ripe dark fruits, lots of violets, some cola, vanilla and earthy notes and a whiff of smokiness.
Tasting the wine shows it to be smooth with plenty of juicy dark fruit mixed with more cola and earthy notes. With some nice complexity to it and even a bit of a meaty note, I like this a lot.
Black pepper notes lead into the long, dry finish. This is a great value for Syrah of this quality.
