Ile de Conas Le Blanc From Trader Joe’s

A bit simple, but highly refreshing, we review the Ile de Conas Le Blanc from Trader Joe’s.

Ile de Conas Le Blanc From Trader Joe's

65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Souvignier Gris from France.

We always get a bit nervous when we see these wines in pretty bottles as often what’s inside doesn’t live up to the expectations of the bottle itself. Let’s check this one out.

The first thing that stands out, besides the bottle, is the use of the Souvignier Gris grape, which is a cross between the Seyval blanc and Zähringer grapes. It was developed in the 1980s in Germany. Zähringer itself is a cross between Gewurztraminer and Riesling (that’s some good lineage). Seyval Blanc is a hybrid cross that contains about 50% vitis vinifera genes and 50% non-vinifera genes.

It’s interesting that this grape is found in the Southern France but it is fungus resistant, not apt to boytritis (rot) and has been described as being similar to Pinot Gris, so we can see why it would be attractive to plant.

The 2025 Ile de Conas Le Blanc is available for just $8.99 at Trader Joe’s. It is imported by Plume Ridge.

From the bottle:

2025 Ile de Conas Le Blanc
65% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Souvignier Gris

A crisp and dry profile which offers a rich aromatic bouquet, subtly highlighting both floral and fruity notes. It’s an ideal companion for moments of sharing and conviviality.

Bottled by: Jean-Claude Mas
12.5% Alcohol

Just like the Ile de Conas Le Rosé that we have covered several times in the past, the wine is bottled by Jean-Claude Mas. He is the owner of Les Domaines Paul Mas, a well respected, large winery in the south of France. We’ve consistently found good value in their wines.

The 2025 Ile de Conas Le Blanc opens with attractive aromas of citrus, some floral notes, a bit of tropical fruit and a touch of grassy herbal note. It’s a good start.

Taking a sip reveals a tasty, super easy to drink wine with similar flavors to the nose and rich fruit in the mouth. A bit simple but highly refreshing, there’s really nothing not to like about this wine especially on a hot day.

It ends crisp, dry, flavorful, and with good length.
