Canned Wines! The Best Wine In A Can
Canned Wine is hot! And why not? Today's modern cans (and liners) easily dispel the "won't it taste like metal" complaints. Add to that the extreme convenience and portability plus the environmental friendliness and pure economics of the wine in a can format, and you've got a winner.

Let's review some of the advantages of cans. Lighter and sturdier than bottles, cans excel at being on the go. Whether it be camping, a picnic, at the ball game, the canned wine format has bottles and boxes beat hands down.
For the environmentally friendly crowd, the advantages continue to pile up for cans. Lighter weight means fewer emissions during shipping (and less cost). Even perhaps more important is the fact that aluminum is recycled at a much higher rate than glass.
About the only area cans do not excel is for those who like to swirl and sniff their wine, although you can always pour it into a glass!
Wine in a can is meant to be drunk young. To our taste, whites and rosés tend to excel in this format, especially the sparkly ones, but there are also quality reds out there. Sparkling rosé might just be the perfect fit for a can -- given its refreshing character and extreme food-friendliness.
Now that we've reviewed some of the advantages, a word of caution. Just like we find with box wine, product quality varies mightily. It seems that many producers are just trying to cash in with less than stellar products, or assume that can wine drinkers are not discriminating. That often means sickly sweet soda pop like substances they label "wine". This is exactly why we've compiled our list! So sit back, pop open a cold one and enjoy.
